Achievements

Congratulations to Bruce Phipps CPP!

Bruce was the recipient of APA' Meritorious Service Award at the 2007 Annual Congress. Bruce was very shocked and surprised to be honored by APA with this award. Bruce is the current President of tje Lehigh Valley Chapter and a long time APA volunteer and member. Congrats to Bruce on his award and recognition in the APA Hall of Fame!

Chapter Achievements

We were again recognized for our excellence as a chapter in 2008 by APA at the 2008 Annual Congress held in Austin Texas, receiving several awards. The LV Chapter was awarded 3rd place in the Chapter of the Year contest, APA's highest recognition for a local chapter. We also received a 2nd place award in the Dream Theme contest, for our PA Statewide Conference. CAMP PAYROLL. And an honorable mention for our Chapter Website.

The LV Chapter was also recognized for their excellence as a chapter by APA at the 2007 Annual Congress receiving several awards. The LV Chapter received an Honorable Mention as a Chapter of the Year, an Honorable Mention in the Best Chapter Website-Custom and also received the Communicator Gavel Award.

History of the Chapter

The Lehigh Valley area APA members were surveyed in February 2005 to determine the level of interest for a Local Chapter. Based on the responses to the survey, there was a great deal of interest in the Allentown/Bethlehem area and a chapter was formed.

The co-founders of the Lehigh Valley Chapter are Ken Krum CPP, now with the American Payroll Association and Marilyn Phipps CPP from Harleysville Group Inc. Ken and Marilyn signed the Application for Affiliation to establish the Lehigh Valley Chapter with the American Payroll Association.

To get started, we scheduled a planning meeting at Day-Timers Inc in February to discuss the results of the survey. Anyone expressing an interest to help on their survey was invited to participate!. There were eleven enthusiastic participants at the planning meeting.
